Nepali Man Charged with Murder of Woman and Daughter in Juru

Date:

A 35-year-old Nepali man, Dinesh Kumar Mandal, was charged today at the magistrate’s court with two counts of murdering a woman and her daughter in Juru last month.

No plea was recorded, as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court. The charges were read to Mandal in Hindi by an interpreter, and he nodded in acknowledgment that he understood the charges and potential punishments.

On the first count, Mandal is accused of murdering 51-year-old Sariya Che Hin, while the second count pertains to the murder of her 11-year-old daughter, Nur Afrina Alisha Abdul Rahim. Both alleged murders took place between 12.30pm and 7.30pm on October 18 at a residence in Kampung Sekolah Juru.

The charges were filed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty by hanging, or imprisonment between 30 and 40 years and at least 12 strokes of the cane if the death sentence is not imposed.

The previous proceeding on November 4 was postponed because Mandal did not understand Bahasa Malaysia and required an interpreter.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Anis Suhada Rosli, who is prosecuting the case, requested the court to set a date for the submission of the chemistry report, telephone forensic report, and post-mortem report.

Magistrate Nurul Rasyidah Akit scheduled the next mention for January 26, 2026, to review the three reports.
