Police are on the hunt for the driver of a Mazda RX-8 believed to have been left in the emergency lane due to a breakdown before it was struck by a motorcyclist, resulting in a fatal accident on Tuesday.
Subang Jaya district police chief Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the incident was reported at about 6.15am involving a collision between two vehicles at Kilometer 12.5 of the ELITE Highway.
The crash involved a Modenas motorcycle which collided with the rear of a Mazda RX-8 that had been parked and abandoned in the emergency lane, allegedly due to mechanical failure.
“The motorcyclist, a 23-year-old local man, suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
Police said investigations are ongoing, and efforts are underway to trace the driver of the Mazda RX-8 to assist in the probe.
Authorities have urged members of the public with information regarding the vehicle owner or driver to come forward by contacting investigating officer Inspector Mohamad Hamdan Jeramatin at 019-4642222.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
