The body of a 10-year-old boy, Khairil Izani Khaizalullinudin, who was feared drowned after being swept away by strong currents in Bandar Puncak Alam, was found on Thursday.
The victim’s body was discovered floating along the riverbank in Sungai Buloh by members of the Saujana Utama Volunteer Fire Brigade during a search operation in the area.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Zone 7 (North) chief, Samsol Maarif Saibani, said the boy, who was reported missing on Tuesday, was located at around 1pm.
“The Water Rescue Team (PPDA), together with the Saujana Utama volunteer team, found the victim in Sungai Buloh heading towards Ijok after beginning the search from the fire control base.
“The operation started from a drain near Masjid Taman Alam Jaya before extending approximately five kilometres towards the river,” he said at the scene.
He added that the total distance from where the victim was believed to have fallen was estimated to be around 10 kilometres.
The boy was found fully clothed, wearing a light-coloured shirt and black trousers.
His body will be taken to the Forensic Unit at Hospital UiTM for a post-mortem examination.
The case has been handed over to the police for further action.
