Teacher Flees Abuse, Triggering Wild Car Chase With Husband in KL

Date:

A high-speed chase erupted from Salak Selatan to Pantai Dalam yesterday after a woman fled her home to escape an alleged assault by her husband, only for the man to pursue her and her brother-in-law in a dangerous road confrontation.

Cheras police chief Assistant Commissioner Aidil Bolhassan said the 26-year-old teacher was allegedly attacked by her husband before she managed to slip out of the house under the guise of taking out the rubbish. Her brother soon arrived in a Mercedes to pick her up.

As they attempted to leave, the husband confronted them and immediately launched into pursuit.

The situation turned perilous when the man allegedly rammed the Mercedes twice along Jalan Kampung Pasir, causing the vehicle to skid and nearly spin out of control. The woman and her brother ultimately escaped via the Sungai Besi–Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway.

Police have since opened investigations under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act, with the case handled by the D11 Sexual, Women and Child Investigation Division.
