Police have detained three foreign men after raiding a house allegedly used as a storage facility for unpaid duty alcohol, with the total value of seizure and vehicle involvement estimated at RM952,000.
The operation was carried out around 12 noon last Saturday at Taman Utama, Pekan Nanas, Pontian, Johor by officers and personnel from the 5th Battalion of the General Operations Force (GOF) under Op Taring Alpha 2.
5th Battalion GOF commanding officer Superintendent Salehin Suleiman said the three suspects, all Myanmar nationals aged between 24 and 33, were arrested during the raid.
He said the residential property had been rented and converted into a storage site before the alcohol was distributed based on orders within the Pontian district.
During the operation, authorities seized hundreds of boxes of assorted branded alcoholic beverages believed to be unpaid duty items, along with a Proton Exora used in the activity.
The case is being investigated under the Customs Act 1967.
