Two men were killed while two others sustained serious injuries in a three-vehicle collision near Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Lalang along Jalan Air Hitam, Johor on Sunday afternoon.

Operations Commander from the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia Ayer Hitam station, Senior Fire Officer I Ramli Said, said an emergency call was received at 4.10pm, prompting the deployment of 12 personnel to the scene.

Upon arrival at 4.19pm, responders found that the crash involved a Volvo XC90, a Proton Saga and a Toyota Vios. The driver of the Volvo, a man, escaped unharmed, while the Proton Saga driver, a woman, was injured but had managed to exit her vehicle before the rescue team arrived.

Ramli said the Toyota Vios carried four occupants, where two men were pronounced dead at the scene by the Ministry of Health Malaysia. The remaining two male passengers suffered severe injuries.

“The two deceased victims were trapped inside the vehicle, and firefighters had to use specialised equipment to extricate them,” he said in a statement, adding that such operations require precision and urgency to prevent further risk.

The injured victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were handed over to the police for further action. The rescue operation was fully concluded at 5.37pm.
