Two Illegal Factories Busted in Kuala Selangor Mega Raid

Date:

Two premises operating without approval were raided by the Kuala Selangor Municipal Council (MPKS) during a joint enforcement operation in Jeram, Kuala Selangor, on Monday.

MPKS said the operation, conducted from 9am to 3pm, involved 42 personnel from multiple agencies including the National Water Services Commission (SPAN), the Department of Environment (DOE), the Kuala Selangor District and Land Office (PDT), Air Selangor and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).

Authorities discovered two illegal facilities—a used tyre processing factory and a brick manufacturing factory.

“Enforcement action was taken in accordance with the law, including Section 109 of the Local Government Act 1976 for failing to comply with notices, and Section 70(1) of the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974 for constructing buildings without written approval from the local authority,” MPKS said.

The council’s Health and Environment Department also issued actions related to hygiene issues, sewage discharge and dust and noise disturbances.

Further action included the issuance of a notice under Section 82(5) of Act 133 for activities causing nuisance to the surrounding environment.

Meanwhile, the Department of Environment issued Directive Notices under Sections 31 and 37 of the Environmental Quality Act 1974 for investigations related to air emissions.
