Two Members Of Wangsa Maju MPPWP Ordered To Resign Immediately Over Extortion Claims

Date:

Two members of the Federal Territory Residents’ Representative Council (MPPWP) for Wangsa Maju have been instructed to vacate their positions immediately. This directive follows the circulation of a viral video allegedly showing the individuals demanding protection money from a local business establishment. The decision was confirmed by Datuk Azman Abidin, the Chairman of the Federal Territory State Leadership Council (MPN) for Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), following a political bureau meeting held today.

The individuals identified in the internal party decision are R. Vijeyndran and G. Paarthiydasan. According to Datuk Azman, this drastic measure was taken to ensure that both police investigations and internal party probes can proceed without any hindrance or interference. He emphasised that the party maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding any form of criminal activity or abuse of power among its representatives, stressing that justice must be upheld from within the organisation first.

In addition to the immediate resignations, the Federal Territory PKR Political Bureau has directed its Disciplinary Committee to conduct an exhaustive internal investigation. The committee is expected to present its findings to the bureau in the near future to determine further action. Datuk Azman reiterated that positions held within the residents’ council are a trust granted by the people and must be executed with the highest level of integrity at all times.

The party leadership issued a stern warning to all members and representatives that any form of malpractice will be met with uncompromising disciplinary action. This stance aligns with the party’s broader commitment to promoting clean, transparent, and fair governance within the Federal Territory. The leadership maintains that no member is above the law and that the party will not shield anyone involved in extortion or the solicitation of protection money.

Furthermore, the Political Bureau has called upon the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to intensify its monitoring of massage parlours and similar businesses in the Wangsa Maju area. This recommendation aims to ensure that all premises strictly adhere to licensing conditions and legal regulations, preventing any illicit activities from taking root. The move comes after social media users widely shared footage claiming to show the duo engaging in the alleged extortion at a business premises in the capital.
