Two Motorcyclists Die In Separate Accidents In Pasir Mas

Date:

A teenager was among two motorcyclists who were killed in separate road accidents in Pasir Mas on Wednesday, police said.

Pasir Mas district police chief ACP Mazlan Hassan said the first incident occurred around 5pm along Jalan Lubok Gong Jeram Perdah (Old Rantau Panjang Road), involving a Honda EX5 motorcycle and a Honda Jazz car.

He said the 19-year-old local rider was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest the victim was riding at high speed before losing control of the motorcycle and veering into the opposite lane.

According to police, the short distance between the two vehicles meant the rider was unable to regain control in time, resulting in a collision with the front right side of the car.

The victim suffered severe injuries, including the severing of his right arm, and was confirmed dead at the scene.

In a separate incident at about 8.30am, a 47-year-old woman died after the Yamaha Ego Avantis motorcycle she was riding is believed to have skidded on its own along Jalan Kubang Kuau in Kampung Pohon Stol, Rantau Panjang.

She sustained serious head injuries and died after 19 hours of treatment at Universiti Sains Malaysia Specialist Hospital (HPUSM) in Kubang Kerian.

Both cases are being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
