Two motorcyclists were killed in separate accidents that occurred in the Sabak Bernam district.
In the first incident, a 22-year-old night market trader was killed in a collision involving a motorcycle and a van at Kilometer 57 of Jalan Teluk Intan–Klang, near Simpang Lima, Sungai Besar, at around 4 p.m. yesterday.
Sabak Bernam District Police Chief, Superintendent Md Yusof Ahmad, said preliminary investigations revealed that the Yamaha 15Z rider from Ampang was on his way back to his hometown in Sungai Limau.
At the same time, a 32-year-old man driving a Toyota Hiace van with a passenger was traveling from Sungai Nibong to Simpang Lima.
“When they arrived at the scene, the van driver signaled to turn left, and as he was making the turn, the motorcyclist crashed into the side of the vehicle from behind.
“As a result, the rider died at the scene,” he said when contacted last night.
In the second incident, an 82-year-old man succumbed to his injuries three days after being involved in an accident with a car at Kilometer 72 of Jalan Teluk Intan–Klang, near Sekinchan.
Md Yusof said the crash, which occurred around 12:30 p.m. last Wednesday, happened when the victim, who was riding a Honda EX5 motorcycle from Sungai Besar, was making a U-turn.
“At the same time, a Perodua Myvi driven by a 24-year-old kindergarten teacher from Bagan Sekinchan was exiting from a slip road towards Sungai Besar and moved into the middle lane, colliding with the motorcyclist.
“The victim was pronounced dead at 6 a.m. today,” he said.
Both cases are being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
