Viral CCTV Of Monk And Woman Kissing Sparks Outrage And Investigation

Date:

A viral CCTV video showing a monk and a woman in an allegedly intimate situation at a home in Surin Province has triggered widespread public backlash and prompted calls for urgent investigation into the incident.

The clip, which circulated widely on April 17, 2026, reportedly shows the monk engaging in inappropriate behaviour with a woman at a residence in Surin. Early information suggests the monk is affiliated with a temple in Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, raising further concern among the public and religious authorities.

The footage was allegedly discovered by a family member identified as Boy, aged 35, who said he was shocked after reviewing his home’s security camera recordings. He claimed the monk had visited the house during the Songkran festive period and had known his sister for some time.

According to him, after noticing unusual closeness between the two, he checked the CCTV system more carefully and claimed to have witnessed behaviour he described as highly inappropriate. In anger, he confronted the situation and later chased the monk away from the house. He also said he set off firecrackers to force the monk to leave, after which the individual fled the scene.

He added that he chose to share the footage online to warn others, stressing that the behaviour shown was unacceptable and damaging to the image of the religious institution. The incident has also caused distress within the family, who fear public misunderstanding over the situation.

Local religious authority Phra Khru Rattana Thammaniwit strongly condemned the incident, stating that monks are expected to strictly observe discipline and maintain moral conduct. He said such behaviour, if proven true, would severely undermine public trust in Buddhism and warrant immediate disciplinary action, including disrobing.

The case has since sparked widespread debate among Buddhists and members of the public, with many urging authorities to carry out a thorough investigation and take firm action to protect the integrity of the monastic community.
