A wanted man involved in several cases was arrested by police at a commercial center in Tuaran today.
Tuaran District Police Chief, Superintendent Noraidin Ag Maidin, said the suspect was apprehended around 3pm after officers spotted the vehicle he was driving near the commercial area.
“When the raid team approached the vehicle, we found a man in the driver’s seat. Police identified themselves and showed their official identification cards,” he said in a statement.
Noraidin added that upon seeing the police, the suspect tried to flee by reversing his vehicle at high speed, repeatedly colliding with the police car positioned behind him.
“As a result, officers had to break the front passenger-side window to make the arrest,” he said, noting that a brief struggle occurred during the apprehension.
“Police used minimal force during the arrest and no shots were fired. The public is advised not to panic or spread speculation that could disrupt the investigation,” he added.
