Woman Killed In Crash While Returning Home After Aidiladha Prayers

A woman was killed after the motorcycle she was riding on was involved in an accident with a car at Kilometre 29.4 of Jalan Lama Kota Bharu-Kuala Krai in Pulai Chondong on Wednesday.

The tragic incident, which occurred at around 8.30am, claimed the life of the 47-year-old victim at the scene.

Machang district police chief Superintendent Azuhar Md. Nor said initial investigations found that the woman was riding pillion on a SYM BX110 motorcycle travelling from Kota Bharu towards Kuala Krai.

According to him, a Perodua Viva carrying two individuals was also travelling along the same route when the accident occurred.

Investigations revealed that the victim was believed to have been on her way home after performing Aidiladha sunat prayers at Masjid Pulai Chondong. The festive morning, which was meant to be a time of celebration and togetherness, turned into a heartbreaking tragedy for the family involved.

“The 44-year-old male rider of the motorcycle suffered serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Hospital Pakar Universiti Sains Malaysia in Kubang Kerian,” he said when contacted today.

Meanwhile, the driver and passenger of the Perodua Viva escaped unharmed.

Azuhar added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

The incident has also sparked concern among road users online, with many reminding motorists to remain extra cautious during the festive season due to heavier traffic and increased travel activity.
