A Year Five pupil from a school in Batu Berendam, Malacca, was rushed to hospital after allegedly falling from a corridor at the school building while trying to retrieve a shoe that had been thrown onto a rooftop walkway.
The incident is believed to have occurred around midday yesterday, when the 11-year-old boy was preparing to head home after school. It is understood that he slipped and fell from the corridor area during the attempt.
According to a witness account from the sister of another pupil at the same school, she was informed of the incident by her younger sibling shortly after the school session ended.
The sibling reportedly said that two students may have been involved in the situation, including one who allegedly threw the victim’s shoe onto the roof of a covered walkway beneath the corridor.
The witness said the incident happened as students were getting ready to leave for the day, when the victim attempted to retrieve his footwear before losing his balance.
It was also reported that wet weather conditions at the time may have contributed to the accident, with rain making the corridor and rooftop walkway slippery.
The injured pupil was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment. Further details on his condition have not been officially disclosed at the time of reporting.
