The Health Ministry reported 417 new tuberculosis (TB) cases nationwide during the seventh epidemiological week of 2026, a drop from the 482 cases recorded in the same week last year.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad described the decline as a positive sign that the ministry’s control and prevention measures are working. “Alhamdulillah, no new clusters have been reported so far, and cases are trending downward,” he said.
He added that the ministry remains committed to monitoring and enforcement to fully control TB, even as numbers fall. Efforts will continue to expand early screening for high-risk groups and increase public awareness about seeking immediate treatment.
The minister made the remarks during the Agenda Nasional Malaysia Sihat roadshow and Perdana Iftar ceremony, which was also attended by Datuk Dr Mohd Azman Yacob.
In a related update, Dzulkefly noted that the ministry had received 12 complaints regarding food hygiene at Ramadan bazaars across the country as of Saturday. Four complaints were lodged via WhatsApp, and no food poisoning cases have been reported to date. “No compounds have been issued to traders so far, as compliance levels remain encouraging,” he said.
