The 16-year-old Form Four student who was found dead at a school in Yong Peng, Johor, on Saturday died from blunt force trauma to the head, federal police have confirmed.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department chief M Kumar said the cause of death was established following a post-mortem conducted at Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital in Batu Pahat yesterday.
In a statement, Kumar said police would ensure the investigation was carried out comprehensively, transparently and professionally, stressing that no party would be protected.
“The motive and cause of the incident are still under investigation.
“We warn the public against making speculation or comments that could interfere with the investigation, whether verbally or through social media,” he said.
Irene Sofiya Khairoul Faisal was found dead in the school hall by her grandmother, who had gone to look for her after she failed to return home following a tuition class.
Three 16-year-old male students have been arrested to assist in the murder investigation.
One of the teenagers has since been remanded for six days until October 9 as police continue their probe into the circumstances surrounding Irene’s death.
