An 11-year-old girl has been found delinquent on multiple charges over the alleged assault, rape and attempted murder of a five-year-old girl in Cleveland, Ohio.
The incident happened on Sept. 13, 2025, in a field near E. 148th Street and St. Clair Avenue, according to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office. A 10-year-old girl and a nine-year-old boy were initially charged in connection with the attack.
On Friday, Oct. 2, Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court Judge Kristin Sweeney ruled that the now 11-year-old girl, identified as M.H. because she is a minor, was delinquent on multiple charges, including attempted murder, rape, kidnapping, felonious assault and strangulation.
The court heard that a 10-year-old boy had pleaded guilty to attempted rape and felonious assault on Sept. 28. He reportedly testified against M.H. and is scheduled for a disposition hearing on Nov. 20.
The victim’s mother, Antavia Kennibrew, previously said her daughter had allegedly been lured from a family member’s home by a group of children before being found badly injured in a nearby field.
Kennibrew described severe injuries to her daughter, including bruising, bleeding and injuries to her scalp, eyes, mouth and hands. Cleveland Police confirmed that its Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit was investigating a case involving multiple children under 10 as both victims and suspects.
Judge Sweeney said the evidence demonstrated beyond a reasonable doubt that M.H.’s actions were intended as an attempt to cause death. M.H. remains in juvenile detention and has been ordered to undergo a sex offender evaluation.
She is due back in court for a disposition hearing on Nov. 18. The victim’s mother said her daughter continues to experience behavioural changes following the attack, but added that she was satisfied with the court’s ruling.
