Chinese Doctor Found Stabbed 34 Times In Cambodia, Police Probe Alleged Murder And Sexual Assault

Date:

A 47-year-old Chinese woman was found brutally murdered inside her medical clinic in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, after suffering 34 stab wounds in what police believe may have been a case of murder followed by sexual assault.

The victim, who was living inside the Ziyun Clinic in the city’s Dangkor district, was discovered lying in a pool of blood at around 4.03pm on 12 July after a visitor arrived at the premises and alerted authorities.

According to local reports, investigators found signs of a violent struggle throughout the clinic. Bloodstains stretched from the front reception area to the kitchen at the back of the building, while a household altar had been ransacked. Police also recovered a bloodstained knife and a pair of blood-soaked jeans believed to be linked to the attack.

A forensic examination revealed the victim sustained 34 stab wounds, including one to the head, 12 to the torso and 21 to her arms and legs. Examiners also found 14 severe lacerations to the back of her head, believed to have been inflicted with a blunt object, with some injuries extending to the skull.

Authorities said the victim also suffered multiple cuts on her hands and fingers, indicating she had desperately fought back during the attack.

Based on preliminary forensic findings, investigators believe the woman died from injuries caused by a sharp weapon and are treating the case as a suspected murder followed by sexual assault of the victim’s body.

Police have arrested a 37-year-old Cambodian man, identified as Ying Chhang (transliterated), in connection with the case. He remains in custody as investigators continue to determine the motive behind the killing and establish the full sequence of events.

The investigation is ongoing.
