Decomposed Body Discovered Near Stadium Hosting Iran Team Training

Date:

A decomposed body was discovered inside the trunk of a car parked near a stadium in Tijuana, Mexico, where Iran’s World Cup football squad is currently training.

The shocking discovery was made in a supermarket parking area directly opposite the Caliente Stadium, where the Iranian team, known as Team Melli, has been preparing for matches in the United States.

Police were seen opening a grey Toyota SUV with California licence plates before forensic teams in protective suits examined and removed the remains from the vehicle.

According to the Tijuana prosecutor’s office, the body was found wrapped in a black plastic bag and showed signs of violence, with authorities believing the car had been abandoned several days earlier.

The incident comes amid ongoing World Cup preparations in a region already grappling with high levels of organised crime and one of the highest homicide rates in Mexico.

Tijuana, located near the US border, has long been considered one of the country’s most dangerous cities, with thousands of killings recorded annually.

Iran’s national team has been operating under strict security arrangements since arriving in Mexico, with armed escorts accompanying players between their hotel and training facilities.

Authorities have yet to confirm any link between the discovery and the football team, and investigations are ongoing.
