Five-Year-Old Seriously Injured After Double-Decker Bus Crashes Into House

Date:

A five-year-old boy was seriously injured after a double-decker bus carrying passengers crashed into a house in Devon, England, prompting a major emergency response.

The collision happened on Torquay Road on Monday, when the bus veered off the road and struck a residential property.

The boy, who was travelling on the bus, was taken to Bristol Children’s Hospital with serious injuries.

A man in his 60s from Torbay has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving. He remains in police custody while investigations continue.

The crash forced the road to close in both directions for around seven hours while emergency services responded to the incident.

Road policing officers carried out a forensic examination of the scene before the damaged bus was recovered.

Devon and Cornwall Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV, doorbell camera, mobile phone or dashcam footage to come forward as investigations continue.
