Police have dismantled two large-scale illegal firearms manufacturing workshops operating covertly in southern Vietnam as part of an expanded investigation into a weapons production and trafficking network.
Authorities said the operations were uncovered following coordinated raids involving around 60 officers across task forces, targeting sites in Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai with support from local enforcement units.
The workshops were reportedly disguised as ordinary mechanical businesses but were equipped with advanced CNC machinery and surveillance systems intended to avoid detection.
During the raids, police seized a significant cache of equipment and components, including completed PCP air rifle parts, ammunition magazines, aluminium blanks, CNC machines and other manufacturing tools.
Several individuals have been questioned, including alleged workshop owners and associates believed to be linked to the wider distribution network supplying both domestic and international markets.
Investigators said the operation had been running since 2023 and involved systematic production and distribution of firearm components through a structured supply chain.
Authorities also linked the latest arrests to an earlier case in April involving a separate illegal weapons ring, with investigations still ongoing to identify further connections within the network.
