A British-Nigerian businessman and social media influencer died after undergoing a penile enlargement injection procedure at a clinic in Bangkok, Thailand.
Igho “Tiny” Ubiribo, 43, died in the early hours of March 6, but details of his death only emerged in September following an inquest at the Inner West London Coroner’s Court.
According to reports on the proceedings, around 40 millilitres of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine were used as fillers during the procedure, which was intended to increase the circumference of his penis.
Ubiribo reportedly underwent the procedure on March 5 before going for a massage with his wife, Danielle Simba Allen.
During the massage, he complained of chest pain before losing consciousness twice.
An ambulance subsequently took him to Sukhumvit Hospital in Bangkok, where he was initially conscious and able to answer questions. His wife also informed doctors about the injection procedure he had undergone earlier.
However, Ubiribo lost consciousness again before the recommended computed tomography (CT) scan could be carried out.
Doctors diagnosed him with a pulmonary embolism, a condition in which a blood vessel in the lungs becomes blocked, and he was transferred to the intensive care unit.
Medical staff performed resuscitation efforts and CPR for more than 100 minutes but were unable to save him.
A subsequent post-mortem examination conducted in Britain reportedly found material in Ubiribo’s lungs consistent with the hyaluronic acid used in the injection.
Pathologist John du Parcq reportedly said the findings were consistent with the post-mortem examination carried out in Thailand.
Ubiribo’s doctor in London told the inquest that he had previously undergone joint surgery and had prediabetes and gout, but no other serious health conditions.
Assistant coroner Jean Harkin ultimately concluded that the cosmetic procedure had caused the pulmonary embolism that led to Ubiribo’s death.
Ubiribo, who was also known as Denisi or Ego, had around 185,000 followers on Instagram and was known for sharing his luxurious lifestyle on social media.
He married fashion designer and socialite Danielle Simba Allen in Zimbabwe in 2022.
