A Mid-Autumn Festival night turned violent in Taiwan after a heated argument between a 33-year-old construction company owner and three men escalated into a physical fight, leaving two men injured with knife wounds.
The incident happened at around 1am on September 26 at a construction business on Zhongzheng Road in Luzhou, New Taipei City.
According to the Luzhou Precinct, the owner, surnamed Hou, got into an argument with three men — Chen, 32, Shi, 32, and Huang, 31.
The argument reportedly escalated, with Hou becoming enraged and returning to the kitchen to grab a fruit knife.
He allegedly slashed Chen and Shi before the confrontation intensified further.
Chen and Huang allegedly retaliated by smashing the company’s signboard.
Police were alerted to the fight and rushed to the scene, where Hou was reportedly still highly agitated and verbally provoking the others.
Officers restrained him on the ground and took control of the situation.
Police and emergency personnel also assisted the injured men in getting medical treatment.
Chen suffered knife wounds to his hand and the back of his neck and was taken to Sanchung Hospital for treatment.
Shi sustained a cut to his right cheek and was taken to Mackay Memorial Hospital, where doctors reportedly needed to put in seven stitches.
The four men accused each other of assault following the confrontation.
Police subsequently arrested all four as suspects caught in the act.
After questioning, Hou was referred to prosecutors on suspicion of assault, while Chen, Shi and Huang were referred for alleged offences including assault and disturbing public order.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the brawl is ongoing.
