A man dressed as Spider-Man became an unexpected real-life hero after helping a wheelchair user cross a busy road in Arkansas.
The incident was captured by a traffic camera and later shared online by the Jonesboro Police Department, showing a man in a wheelchair struggling to cross a busy intersection.
Moments later, a driver wearing a Spider-Man costume stepped out of his vehicle while waiting at a red light and quickly assisted the man in safely reaching the other side of the road.
The masked helper was later identified as Christopher Hellenthal, who was wearing the Marvel character costume as part of a superhero-themed event at his workplace, Ultimate Air Trampoline Park.
Hellenthal said he decided to help after noticing the situation and immediately acted because he was already dressed as Spider-Man.
“I was like, ‘Alright, I’m in the Spider-Man suit; let’s do this,’” he said, adding that he wanted to make sure everyone could cross safely before traffic moved again.
He explained that his quick movements in the viral video were because the traffic light had changed just as he stepped out of his vehicle.
Hellenthal only discovered he had become an online sensation after his mother woke him up and told him that he was featured on Facebook.
He said he was surprised by the attention the video received but hoped the moment would encourage others to lend a helping hand whenever needed.
Hellenthal added that doing the right thing should not depend on whether someone is being watched, saying small acts of kindness can make a difference.
