School Staff Open Locked Room, Find Nearly 1,000 Guns, Suspected Drugs And Pornographic CDs

Date:

A shocking discovery has sparked a major police investigation in Indonesia after nearly 1,000 firearms and weapon-related items were found inside a locked room at a private school in South Jakarta.

According to the school’s legal representative, Hermawanto, the discovery was made on July 10 and 11 when school officials, accompanied by police, forced open a room that had remained locked for months.

Inside, they found 995 firearms, including guns, ammunition and various weapon accessories.

During a follow-up inspection on August 5, authorities uncovered even more suspicious items, including substances believed to be drugs and several pornographic CDs.

The school said all of the items were found inside a room previously used by the foundation’s former chairman, identified only as IWD, who was dismissed from his position on April 18, 2026. School officials claimed they had been unable to access the room because the former chairman had taken all the keys with him.

The school’s legal team has urged police to conduct a thorough, transparent and professional investigation, saying the discovery of such a large cache of firearms could have implications for national security.

Adding to the mystery, school representatives revealed that there is another locked room resembling a bunker on the premises that has yet to be opened. They have asked police to inspect it as soon as possible to determine whether more items are hidden inside.

A senior adviser to the school’s foundation, Untung Sangaji, said the room was initially opened for operational purposes, but staff were stunned to find military-style equipment instead.

Among the items reportedly recovered were 5.56mm rifle barrels, .40-calibre and 9mm pistols, Glock, Walther and M4 magazines, as well as equipment used to manufacture ammunition, which is prohibited for public possession.

Police confirmed they received a public report about the discovery on July 15, although officers had already launched a preliminary investigation after learning about the cache of weapons.

Investigators are now working to determine where the firearms came from, whether they were legally owned, and if any other criminal offences are linked to the items found inside the school.
