A shocking video has captured the moment a man drove along a busy street in Mexico with a baby strapped inside a carrier placed on the roof of his moving car.
The incident, which reportedly took place on Tuesday along Avila Camacho Street in Torreon, Coahuila, was captured by a concerned passerby who desperately tried to alert the driver.
Footage showed the silver car moving along the road with the infant’s portable carrier sitting on its roof.
The witness repeatedly sounded his horn before pulling alongside the vehicle and shouting: “Hey, mate, you’ve got the baby carrier on top of your car!”
Despite the warnings, the driver initially appeared confused about the situation, while the sound of the baby crying could be heard in the recording.
After several attempts to get his attention, the motorist eventually stopped.
However, he initially appeared to confront the passerby rather than immediately checking on the infant.
The witness continued explaining the danger until the driver finally realised what had happened.
He then got out of the vehicle, removed the carrier from the roof and placed it safely on the back seat.
After rescuing the baby, the driver reportedly remarked: “It can happen to any of us.”
However, the encounter did not end there.
The man returned to the witness’s vehicle and asked him to delete the footage. The passerby refused, raising his window and ignoring the request.
The driver’s identity and relationship to the baby remain unknown.
It is also unclear whether local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
