A police pursuit in Cambridgeshire has gone viral after officers on bicycles were seen chasing down a suspect in what many online users described as a “slow-motion” and unusually light-hearted chase through the streets of St Neots.
The incident involved a wanted man attempting to escape arrest by cycling through narrow alleyways while trying to obstruct pursuing officers by pushing wheelie bins and other street items into their path. Despite the attempts to slow them down, the officers continued the pursuit with steady control.
Bodycam-style footage released by Cambridgeshire Police shows the officer closing in on the suspect through residential streets, repeatedly maintaining focus as the chase unfolded at a low speed. At one point, the officer can be heard calling out firmly, insisting he was not backing down during the pursuit.
The suspect could also be heard claiming he had done nothing wrong while continuing to pedal away, creating a tense but oddly comedic exchange as the chase moved through tight alleyways and public areas.
As the pursuit continued, a second officer joined the effort on a bicycle, helping to close the gap and prevent further escape attempts. The coordinated response eventually led to the suspect being successfully detained.
In the end, the man was arrested and placed in handcuffs after the brief but chaotic chase. Police confirmed the operation involved coordinated patrol work, with officers working together to track and apprehend the wanted individual.
Social media users quickly reacted to the footage, with many describing it as one of the “slowest police chases” they had ever seen, while others joked about the unusual nature of a bicycle pursuit playing out through town streets.
Cambridgeshire Police also acknowledged the incident, sharing the footage with a light-hearted caption highlighting the effectiveness of their bike patrol units. Officers emphasised that despite the humorous appearance online, the arrest was part of routine enforcement action targeting wanted suspects.
