An Indian school manager allegedly strangled a 26-year-old female teacher to death after a dispute over marriage, then kept her body in his car boot for an entire day before dumping it near a roadside.
The suspect, identified as Vijay Nishad, was arrested by Rudrapur police with the Special Operations Group (SOG) following an investigation into the murder.
The victim, Rani Vishwakarma, was a teacher at V N Central Academy in Nai Bazar, Chauri Chaura, in Gorakhpur district, which borders Deoria in Uttar Pradesh.
Initial investigations found that Nishad had been in a close relationship with the victim. However, he was already married and had two children.
Investigators alleged that Vishwakarma had repeatedly pressured him to marry her, leading to growing tensions between them.
Deoria police chief Abhijeet R Shankar said the incident took place on October 31, when Vishwakarma arrived at the school and once again raised the subject of marriage with the suspect.
Nishad reportedly tried to persuade her, but the discussion escalated into an argument.
He then allegedly drove her in his white Maruti WagonR to an isolated road outside Meetha Bel village.
According to a police spokesperson, Nishad strangled her in the back seat of the car after their attempt to settle the matter through discussion failed.
He subsequently placed her body in the boot and drove around several locations throughout the day before waiting until nightfall to dispose of it.
Police later received information about a woman’s body found in bushes beside a road. Their investigation led to Nishad’s arrest and the recovery of several pieces of evidence.
Technical and forensic procedures were also carried out as part of the investigation.
