US President Donald Trump will not intervene to stop Andrew and Tristan Tate from being extradited to the United Kingdom, where the brothers face dozens of serious criminal charges, including rape, sexual offences and child abuse-related allegations.
The White House confirmed it has no involvement in the legal proceedings after the Tate brothers’ lawyer, Joe McBride, publicly urged Trump to step in, claiming the pair were victims of what he described as a “political witch-hunt”.
A US official told The Telegraph that the White House had “no involvement and no feelings on the issue”, effectively clearing the way for the extradition process to continue through the courts.
Andrew and Tristan Tate, who hold dual British and American citizenship, were detained in Miami on Saturday after arriving at a bare-knuckle boxing event. They appeared before a federal court on Monday in connection with an extradition request submitted by British authorities.
According to Bedfordshire Police, the brothers face a combined total of 59 charges linked to alleged offences committed in the UK between 2010 and 2017.
Andrew Tate faces 32 charges, including seven counts of rape, multiple allegations involving extreme pornography, and offences related to indecent images of children. Tristan Tate faces six additional charges, including allegations of rape and sex trafficking.
Court documents allege that Andrew repeatedly choked one woman until she lost consciousness before raping her in Bedford in 2015. Another complainant alleged he assaulted her in Manchester, claiming she feared he was going to kill her during the attack. Tristan is also accused of repeatedly choking, assaulting and raping a woman he was reportedly in a relationship with between 2012 and 2013.
British detectives sought the brothers’ arrests after four additional complainants reportedly came forward, increasing the total number of alleged victims in the UK to seven.
The Tate brothers have consistently denied all allegations against them. Andrew has previously claimed to have close ties to the Trump family and said he knew them well. However, Trump recently dismissed reports suggesting members of his administration had assisted the brothers, saying he knew nothing about the claims.
The brothers were born in the United States before moving to Luton as children and are currently based in Romania, where they were first arrested in 2022 in a separate criminal investigation.
