A clothing store manager in Shenzhen became an overnight internet sensation after his priceless reaction to a customer’s unexpected shopping spree was captured on CCTV.
The incident took place at a fashion store in Futian District, where a female shopper spent nearly two hours trying on more than 40 different outfits.
According to footage shared by the store’s Douyin account, the woman repeatedly entered and exited the fitting room, testing dozens of clothing items while the manager patiently waited.
After finally finishing, the customer emerged from the fitting room carrying seven pieces of clothing and handed them to the manager.
Maintaining a blank expression, the manager calculated the total cost at 582 yuan (approximately RM340) and informed the customer of the amount.
However, the woman appeared surprised and quickly corrected him.
“Boss, these aren’t the ones I want. The ones I want are still inside the fitting room,” she reportedly said.
The comment instantly changed the atmosphere.
It turned out the customer had been placing the clothes she did not want outside the fitting room, while keeping her chosen items inside because she could not carry everything at once.
Realising the misunderstanding, the manager immediately burst into laughter.
“Haha, sorry, I heard that wrong,” he said before rushing into the fitting room.
Moments later, he emerged carrying a huge pile of clothing — 33 items in total.
The manager could barely contain his excitement as he continued laughing while calculating the final bill, which came to 3,067 yuan (approximately RM1,790).
The amusing video quickly went viral on Chinese social media, with many viewers entertained by the manager’s dramatic change in mood.
Some joked that the woman had probably contributed an entire day’s sales in a single purchase, while others teased the manager for being unable to hide his happiness.
“At least wait until the customer leaves before celebrating,” one user joked.
Another wrote: “The boss’s smile says everything.”
The light-hearted moment has since become a viral hit, with many praising both the shopper’s generosity and the manager’s honest reaction.
