Zoo In Henan Seeks Bear Costume Worker With Strict No-Talking Rule

Date:

A zoo in China has gone viral after advertising an unusual job offering an annual salary of 100,000 yuan (about RM60,000) for a worker willing to dress up as a black bear.

According to reports from VnExpress, citing Jiupai News, the role is being offered by Luohe Wildlife Zoo in Henan province as part of an effort to engage more closely with visitors in an interactive setting.

The successful applicant must be at least 18 years old and will be required to wear a full-body bear costume while interacting with members of the public during working hours.

Zoo management said the costume is made from soft materials, although it did not confirm whether it is equipped with cooling systems or ventilation to help the wearer cope with long hours.

The job requires six hours of work per day, with four days of leave granted each month as part of the employment package.

Among the strict conditions set by the zoo, the worker is not allowed to speak while on duty and must instead communicate using bear-like sounds such as growls, except in emergency situations.

Reports also indicate that the worker may need to accept food or drinks offered by zoo visitors, adding to the highly unusual nature of the role.
