A nine-year-old tahfiz student was killed after the motorcycle she was riding with her father crashed into a road barrier before being hit by a car in Temerloh on Wednesday.
The accident occurred at about 2.20pm at Kilometer 2 of Jalan Temerloh-Mentakab, where Indonesian national Nur Yuuna Aqilah was pronounced dead at the scene.
Temerloh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nasyim Bahron said the girl’s father, Syafriyandi Ismail, 55, a permanent resident, suffered minor injuries in the crash.
However, Syafriyandi was later taken to the red zone of Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital (HoSHAS) after suffering a heart attack.
“The 21-year-old car driver, a university student, was unhurt in the accident involving a Honda Beat motorcycle and a Perodua Bezza,” he said.
Mohd Nasyim said preliminary investigations found that the father and daughter were travelling towards Mentakab town when the motorcycle skidded, struck the road divider and fell into the opposite lane.
At the same time, the car was travelling towards Temerloh town and its driver was unable to avoid the motorcycle and collided with the girl.
“The girl was pronounced dead at the scene,” he said.
Mohd Nasyim added that the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
