Ten people were injured after a roller coaster accident at a theme park on Saturday night, with police now investigating the incident.
Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the accident occurred at around 9pm and involved 22 riders, comprising Malaysians and foreign tourists aged between 11 and 44.
He said 10 of those on the ride sustained injuries and were subsequently taken to medical facilities in the Subang Jaya area for treatment.
“All the victims suffered minor injuries, and there were no fatalities,” he said in a statement today.
Police received a report regarding the incident on Sunday at 11.45am, and investigations are being conducted to establish what caused the roller coaster to malfunction or become involved in the accident.
The incident has since attracted attention online, with two videos linked to the accident circulating widely on social media.
One of the videos, believed to have been recorded shortly after the incident, shows several people carrying an injured individual on a stretcher near a section of the roller coaster track surrounded by trees.
Another video, filmed during the day, shows a crowd gathered near the amusement ride area. Several police officers and theme park employees can also be seen leaving the vicinity of one of the rides.
Police are continuing to gather information and examine the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the condition of the ride and events leading up to the accident.
