11 Men Charged Over Alleged Geng Vinod Organised Crime Group Membership

Eleven men were charged at the Sessions Court here today for allegedly being members of an organised crime group known as Geng Vinod over the past two years.

The accused were identified as Muhammad Vinod Saktivel, 30, who is believed to be the group leader, along with M. Puvaneswaran, 34, Lawrence Alfred, 34, G. Sanggeethan, 31, M. Naviedran, 29, S. Sri Tharan, 27, M. Surenthar, 27, N.A.N Viknesvaran, 27, J.M Kishaan, 24, R. Shervinkumar, 23, and T. Saarvin, 21.

No plea was recorded after the charges were read out before Judge Husna Dzulkifly as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

They were accused of being members of the group at Bandar Rimbayu, Telok Panglima Garang, between April 2024 and June 27, 2026.

The charge was brought under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code, which relates to membership in an organised crime group.

The prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutors Chow Siang Kong and Muhammad Syahrezal Mohd Shukri, while the accused were represented by lawyers T. Mishant and S. Devan.

The court fixed Sept 14 for the next mention of the case.

Earlier, the 11 men arrived at the court complex at about 9am under tight security by officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

Previously, Bukit Aman CID director Datuk M. Kumar said the group was believed to have been involved in various violent crimes, including gang robberies, attempted murder, armed riots, causing injuries using weapons and criminal damage.

The arrests were carried out under Ops Rapido led by Bukit Aman CID with cooperation from the Selangor CID on June 23 and 24, which reportedly helped solve 21 cases and cripple an armed gang robbery syndicate operating in Selangor.
