13 Arrested Outside Kelantan State Palace — Five Test Positive for Drugs

Date:

Police have confirmed the arrest of 13 individuals, including one woman, who were detained yesterday after gathering in front of the State Palace in Kelantan.

Kelantan Police Chief, Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat, said all suspects, aged between 26 and 67, were taken into custody, and urine tests revealed that five of them tested positive for drugs.

“At around 11:40 a.m. yesterday, we received information about a group of men and women assembling in front of the State Palace. Initial investigations at the scene found that their purpose was to hand over several old items before they were all arrested,” he said in a media statement.

All suspects have been remanded for four days until this Saturday, and the case is being investigated under Section 143 of the Penal Code and Section 7(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.

He added that further investigations into the incident are still ongoing.

Yesterday, media reports stated that 13 individuals, including one woman, were remanded for four days for allegedly participating in an illegal gathering in front of the State Palace in Kubang Kerian. The remand order until Saturday was issued by Magistrate Imran Rais Hamid.
