A 69-year-old man sustained minor injuries to his left shoulder after he was allegedly attacked with a knife by a 13-year-old boy at a public toilet in Kanowit on Thursday.
The victim was taken to Kanowit Hospital for treatment, Kanowit district police chief Deputy Superintendent Junical Anak Ujal said.
He said police received a report about the incident at 3.29pm.
“According to the report, a 13-year-old boy was reported to have injured a man using a knife,” he said in a statement.
Junical added that the case was being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which concerns voluntarily causing hurt using dangerous weapons or means.

He also urged the public not to speculate or circulate unverified information about the case, stressing the importance of respecting the investigation and the interests of everyone involved.
The incident had earlier gone viral on social media, with claims that a public toilet attendant had been injured after being attacked by a teenage boy wielding a sharp object.
