Three warehouse blocks were completely destroyed and 12 vehicles were burnt in a fire at Mogoputi Industrial Park, Phase 2, in Penampang, Sabah, on Thursday night.
The blaze broke out at around 10pm, but no injuries were reported.
Penampang Fire and Rescue Station chief Zeno Tingalan said the department received an emergency call at 10.29pm on Thursday.
A total of 13 firefighters were dispatched to the scene, located about 3km from the Penampang Fire and Rescue Station.
Zeno said the initial information from the caller indicated that the fire involved an electrical distribution board (DB).
However, upon arrival, firefighters discovered that three warehouse blocks storing plastic goods, rubber hoses and paper were completely engulfed in flames.
Firefighters from the Kota Kinabalu and Putatan Fire and Rescue Stations were subsequently deployed to assist with the operation.
Firefighting efforts were carried out using water from fire engines and a nearby hydrant.
The blaze was eventually brought under control, with inspections revealing that 12 vehicles, including vans, four-wheel-drive vehicles, motorcycles and lorries, had also been destroyed.
Zeno said the fire was completely extinguished at 6.16am on Friday. The operation was called off after firefighters ensured there were no further hazards at the scene.
