14 Men Arrested After Violent Brawl in Pontian, Including 13-Year-Old Suspect

Date:

Fourteen men, including a 13-year-old boy, were arrested yesterday in connection with a violent brawl that left one man injured and hospitalized in Pontian.

Pontian District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Shofee, revealed that the incident occurred on February 10 at 4:23 a.m. in front of a coffee shop in Taman Golden, Pontian.

According to him, police received a report from a Chinese man stating that his younger brother had been assaulted, resulting in injuries that required treatment at Pontian Hospital. Following investigations, police arrested 14 suspects aged between 13 and 26 to assist with the probe.

In a statement issued last night, Mohd Shofee said the case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code (committing mischief and causing damage), Section 148 (rioting with weapons), and Section 326 (causing grievous hurt with weapons).

He urged anyone with relevant information to contact the Pontian District Police hotline at 07-6869999 to assist in the investigation.

The Pontian District Police also released photos of the 14 suspects on Facebook. As some of the suspects were seen wearing clothing bearing the name of a Chinese non-governmental organization (NGO), the organization issued a public clarification on Facebook, stating that the suspects are not members of the cultural association and that their actions are unrelated to the group.
