14-Year-Old Among 580 Detained In Selangor’s 450 Drug Raids

Date:

Police arrested 580 individuals, including a 14-year-old, during a three-day special operation targeting drug “hotspots” across Selangor from September 22 until recently.

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the operation focused on plantations, jetties and People’s Housing Project (PPR) areas.

According to him, the Selangor Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) carried out 450 raids, arresting suspects aged between 14 and 70, including 28 women.

He said a total of 646.3 grams and 2,315.3 litres of various drugs worth an estimated RM35,081 were seized. These included 193.58g of heroin, 232.48g of cannabis, 1g of ketamine, 1.35g of yaba pills, 4.98g of Erimin 5 pills, 65g of ecstasy powder and 2,315.3 litres of ketum juice.

Police also confiscated three vehicles believed to have been used for drug distribution.

Shazeli added that 32 individuals on the wanted list were among those detained.

He said the main objectives of the operation were to track down and arrest drug traffickers and addicts, reduce the crime index in Selangor, and increase charges under Section 39C of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 against repeat drug offenders.
