A 15-year-old boy was killed while two other motorcyclists were injured in a collision involving two motorcycles at the Taman Anggerik junction last night.
Kluang district police chief Superintendent Yusof Othman said police received information about the crash involving a Yamaha Ego scooter and a Kawasaki KR150 at about 9.05pm.
He said the victim was riding as a pillion passenger on the Yamaha scooter when the collision occurred. He suffered serious injuries to his head and body and was pronounced dead at the scene by an assistant medical officer.
“The two motorcyclists, aged 15 and 26, sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Kluang Hospital,” he said in a statement today.
The victim’s body was later taken to the Kota Tinggi Hospital Forensic Unit for further procedures.
The crash has once again highlighted the risks faced by motorcycle users, particularly young riders, as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Yusof said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Members of the public who witnessed the incident or have relevant information have been urged to contact the traffic division at the district police headquarters to assist with the investigation.
