Nearly 150 outstanding students who excelled in the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination, along with five 2025 Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) graduates, were honoured at the Sejahtera Madani (Education) programme here on Monday.
The students, from less financially advantaged families across Pahang, each received a laptop and a National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN) Prime certificate worth RM1,000 from the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN).
Political Secretary to the Prime Minister Datuk Ahmad Farhan Fauzi said the assistance should be used wisely to support the recipients throughout their educational journey, particularly as they prepare to enter higher education.
He said the Student Device initiative was among the Madani Government’s efforts to ensure students from families in need have access to digital facilities to support their learning.
“With a laptop, students can access learning materials, journals, digital books and online courses, conduct research and connect with a much wider world of knowledge,” he said in his speech at the event on Monday.
Ahmad Farhan said initiatives of this nature should continue to be strengthened as education and human capital development remain among the most important investments for the country’s future.
He also urged the recipients to look beyond academic excellence and develop qualities such as integrity, courage, resilience, empathy and a sense of responsibility towards society.
“We need a younger generation that does not merely seek employment but is capable of creating jobs, and does not simply consume technology but is able to develop it.
“More importantly, we want them not only to witness the country’s development but to become part of those who contribute to building the nation,” he said.
Ahmad Farhan also reminded the students, who are preparing to enter higher education, to respect their parents and lecturers while remaining focused on their studies.
He encouraged them to maintain their prayers and relationship with Allah, work hard academically and choose friends who could guide them towards success.
“We have high hopes that all the recipients will succeed in their studies, contribute to the development of the country and perhaps become future leaders,” he said.
