17-Year-Old Girlfriend ‘Sells’ 19-Year-Old Boyfriend for Over RM60K, Flies to Thailand for 10-Day Vacation

Date:

A 19-year-old youth from Guangdong claims he was sold by his 17-year-old girlfriend to a scam syndicate in Myanmar and beaten so severely that he lost his hearing. After his rescue, the victim’s family accused the girlfriend of receiving 100,000 RMB (≈RM64,000) for the act and immediately traveling to Thailand for a 10-day vacation. The case is set to go to trial soon, with the family demanding strict punishment.

According to Xiaoxiang Morning Post, the victim, known as Xiao Huang, was lured by his girlfriend, Xiao Zhou, in February under the guise of helping her with family business in Myanmar. The two had met the previous year at a billiards hall, where Xiao Zhou presented herself as a stylish young woman from a wealthy family.

After moving in together, Xiao Zhou persuaded Xiao Huang to travel to Bangkok secretly, claiming it was for work. Upon reaching the Thailand–Myanmar border, he was taken by armed men to a scam facility, locked in a dark room, and forced to participate in online fraud. Those who failed to meet performance targets were reportedly beaten.

With the assistance of the Chaoshan Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar, Xiao Huang’s family paid 350,000 RMB (≈RM224,000) to secure his release, and he returned to China in June. His sister said that after selling her brother for 100,000 RMB (≈RM64,000), Xiao Zhou immediately went on a 10-day vacation in Thailand.

Xiao Zhou is now under police custody in China, facing charges of fraud. The trial, initially scheduled for late July and delayed once, is expected to proceed soon. Xiao Huang’s family has urged the court to impose severe penalties, expressing shock that someone as young as 17 could commit such a serious crime.
