A 23-year-old social media influencer has been remanded for seven days to assist police investigations into allegations that he raped an underage girl and took pornographic photographs of the victim.
Kangar District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Yusharifuddin Mohd Yusop said the remand order was granted by Magistrate Ana Rozana Mohd Nor at the Kangar Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The suspect, who works as a shoe shop assistant in Kuala Lumpur, is alleged to have committed the offences on 17 June after taking the victim, aged 14 years and 11 months, to a rented house in Kangar.
Police believe the suspect also photographed the teenage girl during the alleged incident.
The victim is scheduled to undergo a medical examination at Hospital Tuanku Fauziah as investigators continue gathering evidence.
The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape and Section 5 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 for allegedly producing pornographic images involving a child.
Police said investigations are ongoing.
