5-Year-Old Girl Dies After Neck Cut by Banned Chinese Kite String

Date:

A five-year-old girl tragically died after her neck was cut by a dangerous Chinese kite string (nylon/synthetic), which is banned, in Kukatpally, Telangana, on Monday.

According to NDTV, the girl, P. Nishvikaditya, was riding on a motorcycle with her father and a family member when she suddenly screamed in pain while passing through Vivekananda Nagar. Her father immediately stopped and found her neck bleeding from the kite string.

The Times of India reported that ACP Balanagar, P. Naresh Reddy, said the girl was seated in front of her father on the motorcycle when the incident occurred around 4:45 pm. They removed the string and rushed her to a private hospital in Kukatpally, but she was pronounced dead shortly after.

Police said the string caused deep cuts and serious bleeding. It is believed the kite string may have been flying in the area or stuck to a moving vehicle before hitting the girl.

Authorities have opened an investigation under Section 106(1) of the Indian Penal Code (death due to negligence), and her body was sent to Gandhi Hospital for autopsy.

This marks the second death in Telangana this year caused by banned Chinese kite strings. On January 14, a 38-year-old migrant worker from Uttar Pradesh also died after his neck was cut by a similar kite string in Sangareddy district. Officials have reported multiple injuries caused by these strings this year despite bans and enforcement efforts.
