7-Year-Old Boy Gets Slapped for Going to the Toilet Too Slowly

Date:

A seven-year-old boy is reportedly traumatized and refuses to attend school after being slapped in the face by a female classmate while trying to use the school restroom, his father said.

Syed Rosli Syed Harman, 50, said he and his wife were informed by the school at around 3 p.m. last Monday that their son had sustained a nose injury.

“After learning about the incident, my wife and I immediately rushed to the school to find out what happened,” he told Harian Metro today.

According to Syed Rosli, the school principal and teachers explained that the incident occurred when his son was walking ahead to the restroom while the female student was following behind. The girl reportedly became upset because he was walking slowly and slapped him in the face.

He added that he immediately filed a police report and took his son to Ampang Hospital, where the doctor approved a two-day medical leave.

“The principal also informed us that an internal investigation would be conducted, the student involved would be transferred to another class to maintain harmony, and a meeting with the girl’s parents would be arranged. For now, I prefer to leave the matter to the police,” he said.

Syed Rosli said his son remains fearful and is unwilling to return to school, but he plans to encourage him to resume classes after the medical leave ends.

He also called for the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in all schools to aid investigations and ensure justice. “CCTV is very important as it can serve as reference evidence, and I hope the Ministry of Education will expedite installation in schools for proper monitoring,” he added.

Ampang Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Khairul Anuar Khalid, confirmed that the police had received a report on the incident. He noted that a viral video at 2:45 p.m. showed a student being struck at school.

“The police report was filed by the victim’s father last Monday. The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code [for voluntarily causing hurt], and no arrests have been made so far,” he said in a statement today.
