Bangladeshi Man Charged Over Five Molestation Cases At KL MRT And LRT Stations

A 41-year-old Bangladeshi man has been arrested and charged after he was allegedly linked to five cases of molestation involving women at several MRT and LRT stations in Kuala Lumpur since last month.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the suspect was detained on April 27 at around 11.45am at the MRT Maluri Station concourse.

He said investigations found the suspect was believed to have committed the offences against women aged between 21 and 28 years old.

The incidents were reported to have taken place at several locations, including LRT Chan Sow Lin Station, MRT Maluri Station and MRT Taman Midah Station.

Fadil said the suspect has been brought to court and charged under Section 354 of the Penal Code for outrage of modesty.

If convicted, the offence carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years’ imprisonment, a fine, caning, or any combination of two of the punishments.
