A 15-year-old schoolgirl was allegedly stabbed at the canteen of a secondary school in Banting after purchasing bread during recess on Monday.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 9.30am when the Form Three student was allegedly attacked, sustaining stab wounds to both the front and back of her body.
A student claimed the suspect entered the canteen area through a route near the school’s surau shortly before the incident took place.
“The incident happened during the Form Three recess break. The suspect stabbed the victim in the front and back of her body,” the student told local media.
The student added that panic quickly spread throughout the school, with students fleeing the area for safety.
Following the incident, all students were instructed to gather at the school field as a precautionary measure to prevent any further untoward incidents.
The same student also alleged that the 15-year-old suspect had been expelled from the school last year.
According to the student, the suspect was believed to have mental health issues and had allegedly jumped from one of the school’s buildings last year. These claims have not been officially confirmed by the authorities.
Meanwhile, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek arrived at the school at about 1pm and remained there for approximately 30 minutes.
Kuala Langat District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi was also seen inspecting the scene as investigations into the incident continued.
