Bentley Seized After Owner ‘Forgot’ To Renew Road Tax And Insurance Since 2018

Date:

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has confiscated a Bentley Continental after discovering that the luxury vehicle’s road tax and insurance had not been renewed for nearly seven years.

Kuala Lumpur JPJ director Hamidi Adam said the car was seized during an enforcement operation along Jalan Tun Razak, where the female driver was stopped for inspection.

Initial checks revealed that the businesswoman was the registered owner of the vehicle but was unable to produce valid road tax or insurance documents. Further investigation also found that she did not possess a valid driving licence, according to a report by Harian Metro.

Hamidi said records showed the Bentley’s road tax and insurance had lapsed since 2018.

“The woman claimed she had overlooked the renewal as these matters were previously handled by her family,” he said.

He added that the vehicle was seized for further action, stressing that all motorists, regardless of vehicle type or status, are required to comply with road transport laws.

JPJ reminded vehicle owners to ensure their road tax, insurance and driving licences are valid at all times, warning that enforcement operations will continue to be carried out regularly.
