Motorists travelling along the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) towards Klang faced unusually heavy traffic today after a large billboard structure collapsed and blocked part of the highway near Bukit Jelutong.
Based on posts circulating on social media, the incident occurred between Kilometre 8 and KM8.8 of the NKVE, with at least the left and middle lanes reportedly obstructed.
Images shared online showed the large advertising structure hanging across part of the carriageway, forcing motorists to slow down as they passed the affected area. Such incidents can quickly cause traffic to build up on busy expressway routes, particularly during peak periods.
A Threads user claimed the structure may have fallen after being struck by a lorry near the flyover.
“NKVE Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam-Klang direction, the sign fell because a lorry may have hit it near the flyover. Only the right lane can pass. Be careful,” the user wrote in a post at about 1.30pm.
Astro Audio Traffic later reported at around 1.40pm that traffic was experiencing unusually severe congestion from Subang towards Shah Alam and Seafield following the billboard collapse at KM8.8, which had blocked the left and middle lanes.
Motorists heading towards Klang are advised to exercise caution and reduce their speed when approaching the affected stretch.
As of now, the actual cause of the incident, as well as whether there were any injuries or vehicle damage, has yet to be confirmed.
