A foul smell coming from a car parked for about a week led to the discovery of two badly decomposed bodies inside the vehicle at the Vista Valley 3 commercial area here yesterday (Aug 25).
The shocking discovery was made at around 3.30pm after a supermarket employee reportedly noticed what appeared to be bloodstains beneath the car. Upon looking through the vehicle, the worker was alarmed to find two bodies in an advanced state of decomposition.
Police and medical personnel were called to the scene after receiving information about the discovery. The area was subsequently cordoned off as investigators carried out their work and prevented members of the public from entering or photographing the scene.
The incident attracted a crowd of curious onlookers, while forensic personnel examined the vehicle and surrounding area for possible clues. The bodies were removed from the scene at about 7.35pm before the car was towed away around 8pm.
A daughter of one of the deceased reportedly told reporters that her mother and stepfather operated a burger stall in the nearby area. She also said her mother and the other deceased, a man, were believed to be friends.
Speculation among some members of the public suggested that the victims could have died from carbon monoxide poisoning. However, the claim has yet to be confirmed by police, and the exact cause of death remains unknown.
Authorities have yet to release further details on the identities of the victims, when they died or whether there were any criminal elements involved. Police are expected to provide more information once investigations and forensic examinations are completed.
